Today our episode of Customer Experience Heroes is about Trader Joes, the American grocery store. This is a story of them literally delivering when it mattered most. It was the beginning of a large snowstorm and an 89 year old man was stuck in his home. His daughter was frantic as she was unable to get to his house to stock him up with food, in case the storm shut down roads.
His daughter knew that Trader Joe’s didn’t deliver food. However, after calling several other grocer’s and being rejected by them all, she tried her luck. They regularly shopped at the local Trader Joe's, so it was worth a shot. After explaining her situation to the customer service agent, they told her they would gladly deliver. They even threw in additional items that would fit perfectly with the man's low sodium diet.
Within 30 minutes the food was on the man's step, free of charge. While other stores that the woman had contacted said they were unable to deliver, Trader Joe’s refused to let red tape get in the way of a customer in need.
